GILLIAN MASKELL

Gillian Maskell was born in South Africa in 1965 and comes from conservation driven family thus having a burning passion for wildlife, conservation and Africa.

Her hobbies are photography and art together with numerous other outdoor activities. Her art is self-taught and she continues to experiment and explore the diversity of various mediums
Gill and her husband Graham have owned a safari company – Africa 2000 Tours – for the last 20 year specializing in providing tailored safaris throughout Africa to the international market. During her travels she have acquired a collection wonderful wildlife photographs and would like to share them with you in both art and photographic form.

Gillian lived in Hilton Natal midlands for 20 years before relocating to Knysna in 2010. They live in a beautiful nature estate with their 2 golden retrievers and a cat.

Gillian specializes in pastel painting- The beauty of pastel with it’s fine detail and bold colours make it a pleasure to work with. She loves the way one can achieve fine details such as fur and whiskers due to the layering capabilities of the medium. She is however exploring various multi medium techniques including charcoal and water colours into her pieces. But her passion are pastels.
