GUY THESEN

Born 1961. Diploma Graphic Design, Michaelis School of Fine Art, University of Cape Town. 1983- 86.

My work is mainly shown through Knysna Fine Art where Trent Read is the owner. I live in Old Belvidere, Knysna and have a studio at home, Am married to Jo -Ann, a writer and we have two sons, Leo and David.

Have always loved colour and abstract forms, my major influences are Herge, Matisse, Battiss and San bushman artists. My work is process driven, conceptual and stylized with abstract forms. I work mainly in acrylic paint on wood but also enjoy print making (wood cuts) and sculpture.

I have been a full time artist for the past 14 years after other interest took up most of my time. Currently I am exploring the concept of the subtle surrounding unseen worlds by using the full spectrum of colour and simple forms to symbolically try and make visual meaning of it.
