HILARY APPELGRYN

Hilary has lead a life of creativity from a young age. Born in Zambia, her family then relocated to the Cape where her artistic journey began. From painting; to pottery; to making clothing and jewelry, she reveled in spending her spare time creatively. She pursued watercolour more seriously by attending classes with her greatest influencers and well-known artists Angela Eidelman, Bill McGill and Richard Rennie, among others.

Hilary doesn’t limit herself only to watercolour, but also experiments with oils / acrylics and incorporates mixed mediums with different techniques, styles and has a wide range of subject matters. She’s highly influenced by cultures, people, her worldly travels and nature, often finding an emotional connection to portray in her work. She loves sharing her ideas with fellow artists and finds beauty in encouraging each other to grow.

Based in the Garden Route now, she’s still drawing in on her love for art.
