JULIE TUGWELL

My art is a storm of styles ranging from realism, abstract emotionism and more recently a style of pop art which adds to this explorative journey of these different approaches.

My fine art realism, is an oil paint technique of herculean patients and structure taking months to complete. My abstract paintings are a roller coaster of emotion and freedom, always trying to leave fear at the door. I am known for my flowers where these two techniques often meet.

In 2008 I worked for Mooney Studios assisting Jill Mooney in her textile company and working for James from modelling to building sets to cleaning studios. Its here that marked the foundation of my career. For the past 2 years I have been working as a fulltime artist, showcasing my paintings in various galleries in the Garden Route and Cape Town.
