NATHALIE WESSELS

Nathalie Wessels came to South Africa 15 years ago. She was mesmerized by our country and soon fell under the spell of the beautiful, proud people and their unpolished, lived faces and appearances. They teach her what life should really be about.

Nathalie is inspired by the African people and especially their expressions of which you know there is a whole story behind it. The purity and complexity of the different cultures continue to fascinate her and persuade her to translate this onto the canvas.
Nathalie is an autodidact and likes to work with acrylics on canvas. She specializes in portraits. These portraits possess silence and balance as a result of her painting that focuses on the essence. Her work is also characterized by a certain directness and a fearlessness to make the inner visible.

Nathalie experiences each painting as a journey in itself in which you keep discovering new things about painting, but also about yourself.
