CLAIRE VEGTER

Claire Vegter, the ‘Scottish nurse’ of the pandemic, called it a day on her nursing career to turn her love for art into the Stormpebbles Design Studio.

Initially working with casting epoxy, but later graduating to hypo-allergenic eco-resin, Claire creates beautiful objects and multimedia art. She combines materials like wood and glass with a variety of skills and techniques, such as alcohol ink painting, decoupage and stencil moulding.

Her makeovers give shabby old furniture a bright new life, and she gladly teaches people how to achieve stunning effects with their own art, furniture or interior designs.

She found true enjoyment and freedom not only in artistic expression itself, but also in finding and working the wood for her projects and mastering the complex chemistry of the high-quality resins, inks and paints she employs in her art.

Claire loves evoking a sense of the natural beauty of Knysna, finding inspiration for her colour schemes and textures in the sea and the sand, the forests and the flowers, and the skies and sunsets of the most beautiful place in the world.
